First day of training!
Had the first day of training at Fido, today. Mostly paper signing and the like. The rest of the class is composed of customer service reps, potentially my future employees, while I'm a team leader. In other terms, it'd look rather awkward if I performed poorly - I can feel a certain (reasonable) level of pressure!

Then again, if I compare to my job, a few years ago, at Bell, I don't think that this training shall be stressful. At Bell, there were 4 branches (landbased lines, cell phones, expressvu TV and Sympatico Internet), with each having several special offers, plans, packages or products, and with various bundling rebates and technical ordering stuff. Plus, Bell being very old, in the telecom industry, there were about 8 different overlapping applications of various generations, each having bugs, limitations, incompatibilities, etc - and as a rep you have to manuver through them all with speed enough to respect an average handling time of roughly 8 minutes per call.

At Fido, there's a single branch: Fido cell phones and plans. And a single, recent, well made central computer application that enables you to do everything. And the aimed average handling time my reps will have to attain... is still roughly 8 minutes per call...!!

I'm not saying "piece of cake!". I know better than to paint a big honking neon-flashy red shooting-practice target on my ass, bend over and call Fate a toothless old hag. I'm just saying there MIGHT be a chance that I won't be drown in the flow of training information and that i MAY have enough ease through the training to acquire a minimal level of credibility with my collaborators. Which would be good. Particularly if some of them end up in my team.

Other advantages I learned about today:
- I've got a 200$ per two years for glasses and contacts (plus eye exam fees are reimbursed too!). So I'll FINALLY be able to replace my last pair of glasses, quite conscientiously chewed by Pistou

- I've got a 300$ a year reimbursement of gym membership fees (no more excuses, the elliptical machine is calling)

- I've got 50% off all Rogers products (cell, video, internet, home phone) - only worry being the 60 gigs monthly bandwidth limit

Summary: GOOD STUFF. I actually left the building today excited about coming back tomorrow morning. That feels GOOD.

Argh! Take 2, made a (few) mistake(s)...

Aaaaand action!

Hi Ashley! I'm David! :D

I picked-up your LJ from dog_macros (not from Dizietsma's LJ, like
I had thaught initially) a little while back, and just, you know, started to follow a bit of it! I hope it's ok! :)

(now that part about the cake/party is way off - please disregard!)

*arhm*

I'm really glad to now count a future eminent veterinarian miracle-worker to my f-list! :D

Welcome to my LJ! ^_^

The Case Against Pistou

So I'll FINALLY be able to replace my last pair of glasses, quite conscientiously chewed by Pistou.

No. It wasn't her. She didn't do it. It was the zombies. Or you did it, in a frenzy of job-hunting frustration, and don't remember it, and are blaming it on an innocent little pup.

No. It wasn't her. She couldn't do it. Why, her jaws are so large, the glasses would be too small to be of even negligible satisfaction.

No. It wasn't her. She wouldn't do it. If she wanted to mouth something for hours that reminds her of Daddy, your shoes or undies would be more likely candidates.

No. It wasn't her! She didn't, couldn't, wouldn't!

Re: The Case Against Pistou

LOL!!!!!!!!

Such a strong case! You've got me almost convinced!!!

You know, if I had had Pistou as a child, she would have been the kind of puppy to REALLY eat my homework!!

But she's SO ADORABLE that I would have taken the blame for it anyways...!

:)

When I come back from work, these days, I get the "OH MY GOD, Daddy, you havn't forsaken me! YOU CAME BACK!!" happy tail whipping, to the extent of turning my thighs purple from bruises!

Me' loves' me' pup'! :D

Re: The Case Against Pistou

Yeah! It wasn't her! About the savage lashing she's giving your legs, well...

She wants you to take her for a walk. Every night.

Followed by a run. Every night.

Followed by a walk. Every night.

And then in the morning...

Re: The Case Against Pistou

lol, sounds like you know her well!

She gets at least 1 good walk every day, and a good half an hour to an hour of throw/fetch, scattered through the evening... plus she like "hanging out" next to me when I watch TV or spend time on the 'puter...

But if it was up to her, it'd probably be:

5:45 - Daddy Gets home. Wack his legs.
5:46 - We're out, walking and running, before Daddy could remove his suit
8:00 - Had a good run. Time to head for a park, for some ball-throwing/other-dog-sniffing time
9:30 - Walk back home
10:15 - Daddy pets me while I chew on a squeek-toy
11:00 - Daddy stops petting me, and starts throwing me the squeek toy in the house for some in-house go-fetch.
11:45 - Daddy gives me fresh water, home-made dog food, and watches me eat
12:00 - Eating was good. I'm off to bed. I think I'll allow Daddy to sleep in his bed tonight. Meh.

Thank goodness I'm the one in charge! ;D

Re: The Case Against Pistou

I finally have a dog icon, which I wish to show off to you.

And you and Ms. P may find Kate the Dane of interest. I'm sure Pistou was even prettier than this Kate canine when Pistou was a pup.

And I thought the "fido" tag at the bottom of your post meant it would lead me to other posts about your dog! Not your job!

BTW, you should start a new thread and let your fans know how the job is working out, or not. It's been more than a month...

Happy Birthday, Ulvain!

And look, here's another icon I want to show off to you. :)

Heard from Aisling that your party was a good one. And I've used the "nudge" feature here at LJ to get you to post some kind of update, so that I needn't keep appending these contemporary notes to an old old thread. But meanwhile...
Happy Birthday, Ulvain!!!!

Urgent Message to Pistou!

Darling Pistou! Will you look at this giant hunk o' manly dog? Half Newfie, half Dane, he stands 6'5" (or um, let's see, about two metres) on his hind legs.

His name is Samson and he lives in Britain.

I'm glad you're keeping your daddy so busy he never had time to post in his LJ any more! :)

Re: Urgent Message to Pistou!

Aaargh, I know, I know! But I get home at 1 in the morning, and am off to work 2 hours after I wake up every morning! It's a dog's life! ;)

As for Pistou, she seemed a teeny-bit too interrested in that big hunk o' manly dog. I gota keep an eye on her...

Hello Dave

How's life, you have not updated your LJ and I have cancelled you but I am still your friend.

I feel like melted butter, we are recovering at last from the umpteen mosquito bites from the Fearsclave Ranch. See you soon.
