Sure thing! I can actually quote the businessman #1 in the movie The Game (1997 -
http://imdb.com/title/tt0119174/),
saying to Nicholas Van Orten (Michael Douglas) : "I envy you. I wish I could go back and do it for the first time all over again..." (

My Icon, or the one in the Apron, is of the movie V for Vendetta - to my opinion one of the best movies of the past decades (
http://imdb.com/title/tt0434409/).
And yet, the movie is a pale comparison to it's inspiration, the V for Vendetta original comic or graphic novel (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V_for_Vendetta).
I'll try to say as little as possible, and to encourage you with all my virtual mental strength to see the movie, but here's the basic outline:
The story is set in a world strangely resembling the present US and UK political scene, or a slight projection in the future of them: utterly fascist governments completely controlled by corporations, fanatic zeal, nationalism, military control, no civil rights, complete media manipulation, etc.
In the midst of the "Nazi government with modern media control technologies" situation emerges an individual with astounding capacities - V. A symbol of anarchy, V works actively at freeing the people from the slavery they barely realize they're in, and does so with - amongst other - the memorable quotes:
"People shouldn't be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of their people"
and
"- Why won't you die?
- Because beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof."
I can't emphasize enough how good the movie is - how fulfilling it is to see it when our geopolitical reality hits us in the face. Actually, if you pass by Montreal any time soon, email me and we can watch it together! And this offer is opened to all my LJ friends - whomever didn't see V or would like to see it again, you're welcome! :)
